How We Help

We provide food and clothing, shelter, and life-changing programs to neighbours living with poverty, homelessness and other life challenges.

Food and Clothing

We provide hundreds of nutritious meals every day to neighbours in need. Our meals provide comfort and hope to someone in need.

Hot nutritious meals for neighbours facing hunger

At each of our Drop-In Centres, neighbours in need are welcomed inside for a nourishing meal prepared and served with love.

Clothing, toiletries, and essential needs

At our FreeMart locations, neighbours can find warm clothing, toiletries, household essentials, and more.

I recently lost my wife. I wasn’t leaving the house or eating much. Coming here, I remembered what it was like, being part of a family sitting around the table.

Safe Shelter

A safe, warm, and supportive haven for neighbours experiencing homelessness — and those in need of a fresh start.

Drop-In Centres

Neighbours from all walks of life are welcomed in with open arms. Inside, they’ll find a safe, warm place to rest, a hot meal, emotional and spiritual support, and access to life-changing services.

Transitional and Affordable Housing for Women & Children

Women and their children are offered the tranquillity and space they need to start their journeys of healing and renewal. This peaceful environment is essential for those who have faced the turmoil of domestic abuse or the instability of homelessness.

Men’s Life Recovery Program

We empower men to walk away from addiction and step into a hope-filled future. Each man who joins the program is placed in a private room, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for healing and reflection.

Emergency Shelter

During the coldest months of the year, we do everything we can to keep people safe, warm, and well at the Truro Emergency Shelter.

I’m so thankful for this wonderful blessing. Everybody here is so welcoming and understanding. My broken heart has been healing. I feel like I belong to a lovely family of sisters.

Basic Needs

Freemart

At each of our Drop-In Centres, neighbours can find clothing, footwear, toiletries, and other essentials — choosing what they need in comfort and dignity.

Mobile Mission

Our Mobile Mission, affectionately known as the #SoulsMobile, is on the streets of the HRM each day, bringing support and essential needs straight to those who need them most.

You can’t imagine how good it feels to put on a dry pair of socks when you’ve been trying to get to sleep with wet feet for nights on end. God bless you.
